Three handmade black ceramic vases, produced on the wheel in Fernando Durao’s Buenos Aires studio. Each piece is individually thrown, trimmed by hand, and fired at 1200°C in high-fire stoneware — a process that has been Fernando’s daily practice for over 35 years.
The surface of each vase is worked with a custom matte black slip, brush-applied in layers directly onto the raw clay. The formula is Fernando’s own, developed over decades from raw minerals: iron oxides, feldspars, silica. No commercial glazes. The result is a surface that reads differently in every light — matte in shadow, quietly alive in sun.
This set of three black stoneware vases is a single, unrepeatable grouping. No molds were used. No edition exists. Once sold, this exact combination of forms and surfaces will not be made again.
Each piece in this collection ships with a signed certificate of authenticity from the artist.
