Terms & Conditions
By purchasing from Durao Studio, you agree to the following terms. Please read them before placing an order. If anything is unclear, write to Fernando directly at studiodurao@gmail.com before completing your purchase.
The Work
All pieces sold through Durao Studio are original, one-of-a-kind handmade ceramic art objects — thrown on the wheel by Fernando Durao in his Buenos Aires studio and fired at 1200°C in high-fire stoneware. No molds are used. No editions exist. Each piece is unique.
Due to the handmade nature of the work, minor variations in form, surface, and tone are inherent and expected. These are not defects. They are the natural result of working by hand, one piece at a time.
Pricing & Payment
All prices are listed in US Dollars (USD) and include door-to-door shipping from Buenos Aires, Argentina to any address in the United States. There are no additional freight charges.
Payment is processed exclusively through PayPal. Your purchase is protected by PayPal’s Buyer Protection program. Fernando does not store or have access to your card or payment details.
Shipping & Delivery
All pieces are packed individually by Fernando in his studio — carefully wrapped, padded, and boxed for international transit. All shipments are fully insured door-to-door.
Estimated delivery time to the United States is 7 to 15 business days from dispatch, depending on the courier and customs clearance. Fernando will provide a tracking number once the piece has been shipped.
If you provide an incorrect shipping address and the error is not identified before dispatch, the lost parcel is your responsibility. Fernando will make every effort to resolve the situation, but cannot guarantee a refund if the package is lost due to an incorrect address provided by the buyer.
Import Duties & Customs
Orders shipped from Argentina to the United States may be subject to import duties assessed by US Customs upon arrival. As of 2025, the United States suspended the $800 de minimis exemption for all countries. Any duties charged are the responsibility of the buyer and are collected by the courier at delivery.
Fernando ships all pieces with complete documentation, including a signed certificate of authenticity. Works that qualify as original art under HTS Chapter 9701 of the US tariff schedule may be eligible for duty-free entry — but this classification is determined by US Customs, not by the seller. Durao Studio cannot guarantee duty-free treatment and is not responsible for any customs charges incurred.
If you have specific questions about your customs situation, we recommend contacting a licensed US customs broker before placing your order.
Damages in Transit
All shipments are fully insured. In the event that a piece arrives damaged, the insurance claim is the avenue for resolution — Fernando does not offer replacements or refunds for transit damage.
If your piece arrives damaged, please:
- Photograph the outer packaging before opening it.
- Photograph the damaged piece immediately upon unpacking.
- Contact Fernando at studiodurao@gmail.com within 24 hours of receipt, with the photos attached.
Fernando will provide all documentation required to support your insurance claim.
Returns & Exchanges
Returns are not accepted. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind original work sold as pictured. Fernando does not accept returns based on change of mind, aesthetic preference, or any reason other than a verified error on his part (for example, if the wrong piece is shipped).
Custom orders are not offered. Fernando does not produce work to specification, color request, or personal brief.
Certificate of Authenticity
Every piece from Durao Studio ships with a signed certificate of authenticity from Fernando Durao. The certificate confirms that the work is an original, one-of-a-kind handmade ceramic art object — not a reproduction, not part of an edition. It includes the collection name, the piece reference, and Fernando’s signature.
The certificate is relevant for US customs purposes and may support the classification of the piece as original artwork under applicable tariff codes.
Care Instructions
The vases in the Unikas Black and Unikas Quartz collections are decorative objects. They are not designed to hold water and should not be used as functional vessels.
All pieces are washable. Hand washing is recommended. Do not submerge in water for extended periods. Handle with care — high-fire stoneware is durable, but as with all handmade ceramic art, it requires more attention than mass-produced objects.
Intellectual Property
All content on duraostudio.com — including photographs, texts, and designs — is the exclusive property of Fernando Durao. Reproduction without prior written authorization is prohibited.
Privacy
Personal information collected during checkout (name, address, email) is used exclusively to process and ship your order. This information is not shared with third parties beyond what is required to fulfill the transaction (PayPal, shipping courier). Fernando does not use your data for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.
