Two abstract figurative ceramic sculptures from the Moradores series — handmade on the wheel in Fernando Durao’s Buenos Aires studio. In this collection, form detaches itself from utility and enters a different register: the tension between line and volume, between the suggestion of a figure and the discipline of pure form. Each piece is the result of improvisation at the wheel — a process where the outcome is not predetermined, and where the hand makes decisions that no mold could replicate.
The forms in this set carry a quiet figurative presence. They are abstract — no face, no limb, no literal representation — but they read as inhabited. They stand the way a figure stands. They occupy the space the way a presence does. That is the logic of the Moradores series: objects that don’t decorate a room, but live in it.
Each sculpture is made from high-fire stoneware, fired at 1200°C, and finished with a satin glaze applied by hand. The surface sits between matte and gloss — close enough to the clay to feel material, refined enough to carry the light.
This is a one-of-a-kind ceramic art set. The two sculptures were thrown and selected as a pair. Once sold, they will not be reproduced.
Each piece ships with a signed certificate of authenticity from the artist.
