Two abstract ceramic sculptures handmade on the wheel in Fernando Durao’s Buenos Aires studio. These are not decorative objects in the conventional sense — they don’t hold flowers, they don’t serve a function. They inhabit a space. Place them on a shelf or a table and they quietly reorganize what’s around them.
The Moradores series began as a study in figurative abstraction: forms that suggest a body, a posture, a presence — without representing any of them directly. Each sculpture emerges from improvisation at the wheel, where the tension between vertical line and rounded volume is resolved in real time, by hand, without a predetermined outcome. The result is a form that could not have been planned and cannot be repeated.
Each piece is fired at 1200°C in high-fire stoneware and finished with a satin glaze applied by brush — a surface that is neither matte nor reflective, but somewhere between the two. Quiet. Considered. Permanent.
This is a one-of-a-kind ceramic art set. The two sculptures were made and selected as a pair. Once sold, this combination will not exist again.
Each piece ships with a signed certificate of authenticity from the artist.
